Egyptair checkin at JFK

Our tour company has us booked on an Egyptair flight from JFK to Cairo.
Flight departs at 5:15PM
We arrive on a SEPARATE ticket about 9AM. We arrive at Terminal 4 and depart from Terminal 1. Egyptair appears to set checkin for three hours prior to the flight which would be at 2:15.

We should probably line up half an hour prior to that. Our issue is that if we go directly to Terminal 1 and can't check in until 2:15, what do we do from about 9:30AM after we pickup our luggage until about 1:45PM?

1) all the lounges are inside security;
2) most restaurants are inside security.

Usually, at the checkin locations in airports there are no places to sit down.

Has anyone ever taken the Egyptair direct flight to Cairo from JFK? If so, could you check in earlier than three hours?

What is available outside security at Terminals 4 and 1 were we could sit down?

My suggestion is to check in online. You still have to go to the desk to get your boarding pass and check any bags but checking in online will save you time at the counter.

Very little is before security. If you arrive at T4, there are lots of restaurants and shops in the terminal before you leave security and virtually nothing afterwards. The same for Terminal 1.

My suggestion is to go over to the TWA hotel near T5. You can get breakfast or a drink or a cup of coffee. As long as you purchase something, they won't bother you. It could be as simple as a coffee.

If you want to spend a little money, you could get a "day" room at the TWA hotel. Their "Daytripper" rates are for four or more hours from 6 AM to 8 PM. Just be aware they are non refundable or changeable.

Frank,
Thanks for your input. I don't think it is wise to stay at Terminal 4 inside security, since we have to pickup our luggage outside security. Perhaps we could stay up to half an hour,, but that is not a real solution.

I found a website that showed the restaurants and lounges at Terminals 4 and 1. All the lounges and restaurants are inside security.

I had thought about the TWA Hotel, but was hoping for a solution that didn't involve going to another terminal.

I just checked getting a room at the TWA hotel and for the 4 hours we would have to pay $149. Sorry, not a solution.

Thanks again

I did some more intensive research and found that Terminal 1 is the only terminal at JFK that has a food court prior to going through security. This means we can eventually find a place to sit for a while.
