Egypt Trip Report in January with Djed Egypt Travel

Folks,
Thanks in part to several past postings by some of you, I recently planned, enjoyed, and returned from a two week trip to Egypt in January/February 2022. I have just posted a lengthy trip report (in six parts!) about that trip on the "Trip Reports" section of this forum. I'm letting y'all know here, in case you don't always make it to that section. My two friends and I had a private tour arranged by Djed Egypt Travel, so some of your questions about Djed might also be answered in that trip report. Please let me know if you have any questions about our experience.

wow.. thank you . Will go now and read your report. My son lives Dubai and I in Utah... March will fly to Dubai and then we will fly down to Alexandria Egypt (He a captain for FlyDubai airline). I want to plan a Egypt trip - not sure if in a smaller boat a Nile trip where we would stay on the boat instead of back and forth to hotels etc... will read your info and get back. I think I would prefer private tour, right? Just may be safer (COVID) etc...??? Still can postpone another month - but Egypt pretty easy, right and airports have locatons where one can pick up PCR test to return to US if needed?

Hi, diane,
Hopefully my trip report will answer some of your questions. Re. the Covid test that you will need to have before departing Egypt: The current US govt regulations are that you must have a negative test ONE DAY (not 24 hours) before entering the US (or proof of a positive test accompanied by a letter from a health care professional stating that you are no longer infectious and are cleared to travel). This requirement that the test be ONE DAY before traveling is met with a rapid (antigen) test; results for PCR tests usually take much longer. You do NOT get this rapid test at the airport. (The airport is far east of the main part of the city; you will need to have a printed copy of your test results in hand before going to the airport.) The test could be one of those self-administered tests that is monitored on-line, that you take with you in your luggage, and then get your hotel to print out the results, OR - as we did - get your tour company to take you to a clinic (or have them arrange for a physician to come to your hotel) and get tested a few hours (or one day) before flight time. More discussion of what we did is in my travel report.
