egypt itinerary

I'm currently planning a trip to Egypt for a January departure, 7 to 12 days (flexible)
since this is really spur of the moment does anyone know if its possible to get a private guide
at this time of year
Egypt is on my bucket list and just don't want to wait another year
if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate
My husband and I have done a lot of solo trips but hesitant about Egypt

Hopefully you are asking of a few travel forums.
I went with Trafalgar tours - but right after Arab Spring, so only 5 people on a normally 35+person tour.
If you want a day guide or local tours, check the ratings and listing of Tours by Locals. I arrived before the tour and used Rasha El Ashmawy for a day trip to Alexandria; then through her hired her driver to take and accompany me around the Pyramids for half a day the next morning. I don't see her listed, but I know she is still active and well rated on TripAdvisor. website is egyptdailytours.com
If you want a local tour company, I am out of the loop on those.
Egypt is one of those places where help with logistics is beneficial; particularly with locations in rural areas. You could consider asking Rasha for recommendations if you want a multi-day guide, or work your way through the extensive list on TripAdvisor.
I sure hope you are planning to include a river cruise while there. It's a wonderful way to see the country.

We went to Egypt in 2009 January for 10 nights. That is a good time to go. Since people are scared to go there is a lot of selection and your dollar goes far.
Most hotels can set you up with a private guide; that is how we got one when we got there and we did not have reservations.
Booked the hotel and ask them. I usually use booking.com https://www.booking.com/s/34_6/6ed91caf

You can contact Egypt and Beyond Travel. We used them for a private tour. They were awesome.
