Looking for recommendations for travel companies for Egypt excursions for our family. We are all adults (young adults and parents) with options that include Cairo, Nile, and Abu Simbel. Thank you!
In 2019 we went with Trafalgar Tours Wonders of Ancient Egypt...12 days, Cairo, 7 day Nile cruise, add-on Abu Simbel. I believe the on the ground company was Spring Tours (not sure, though). Fabulous tour, 39 people but never felt like we were in a herd. Excellent guide who really knew his stuff. It was my #1 bucket list for decades. I couldn't have been happier. Mid-priced. Hotels, boat on Nile, meals, sights and sites, guide and in country transportation (bus, plane, boat) all smooth and comfortable. We loved it. Only hiccup was flight on Lufthansa from LAX via Frankfurt to Cairo, and reverse. I used to like Lufthansa, but every leg was awful, I would make different arrangements for transport to and from Cairo. The tour was arranged with AAA travel, but you can book with them yourself. Have a wonderful time!
I have been to Egypt three times, the last time two years ago. We used Gate 1 Travel and it was fantastic. We had a university educated guide that knew her Egyptian history.
It included two cruise (one on Lake Nasser for Abu Simple and one on the Nile from Aswan to Luxor). Also, it included the Cairo area with five star hotels.
We compared several tour companies including Viking, Gate 1 Travel and others. Gate 1 Travel had a price that included airfare from JFK that was a little over HALF the price of Viking for virtually the same product.
It is easy to check the prices. One thing about Gate 1 Travel is to sign up with them for information and they offer sales that are exceptional.
