My wife and I plan to visit Egypt in October. Our research shows there is a national holiday, Armed Forces Day, on October 6th. Government offices, banks and the Egyptian stock exchange close that day.
Does anyone have experience or information at to other closures on October 6th or similar national holidays in Egypt? We're particularly concerned about the Egyptian Museum, Cairo Citadel and the Muhamed Ali Mosque in Cairo.
Dont worry about your visits because the sightseeing in egypt are always open.
banks will be closed in that day but exchange offices and ATMs is always open also :)
BUT, be aware that scammers will await outside the museum and tell you it is closed or all tickets sold and ONLY they have the way to get in. Nonsense. Happened to us, and thanks to Rick Steves' warning about this very thing, we laughed at them. Got in the normal way just fine.
