It's looking more and more like Machu Picchu will be out of my reach this spring, due to what's happening in Peru and the travel disruptions it's causing, so I'm shifting my focus to Easter Island and/or the Galapagos Islands (and yes, I know that they are far from each other - but I have 12 days to work with). Does anyone have any suggestions for tours of either Easter Island or the Galapagos Islands? I will be a solo traveler for this trip and would like to go in late March/early April of this year. I plan to fly into Chile and perhaps return from Ecuador (though I'm open to other suggested routes). I understand that I could probably do Easter Island on my own, but I've read conflicting reports of whether you need a tour/guide or not, so I'd appreciate any suggestions.
I've not given up on my dream of visiting Machu Picchu, but for now at least, I think it best to focus on Easter Island and the Galapagos Islands and would very much appreciate any suggestions. Thank you, and if you celebrate the holidays, enjoy!
