My husband and I are going to Morocco for 12 nights that includes Rabat, Chefchaoen, Fez (with side trips), Merzouga, Skoura, and Marrakech (with side trips). We have booked our accommodations and now only need a driver/guide(s). How do we know if an outfit is reputable? We have received quotes from two outfits that received good reviews on Trip Advisor. (We don't want to spend a fortune, so five star outfits are out.)
I have not been to Morocco (my parents have, but on a guided tour that included lodging), but I think the key to finding a reputable company for anything is to cross-reference information from multiple sources. I would not rely solely on Trip Advisor, but would also check trusted guidebooks and any other sources of information (like if they have a tourism license...although I don't know how formal licensing requirements are over there). If budget is an issue, I would check out the Lonely Planet book because they typically have listings for all price levels in their books.
I have already tried to do as you suggested and cannot find where to look to see if the companies are registered/licensed. Also, I looked at the Lonely Planet book and they do not provide references to drivers (only tours). I am hoping that others on this Forum might have actual experience?
You might have better luck on the Fodor's forum:

Are you sure you really need a driver? Have you traveled much elsewhere? And, as a comparison, do you feel you would you need a guide/driver in, say, Italy?
Would the hotels you have booked be able to help with recommendations? At least ask them.
