Hi, we are from South Africa and flying to the USA and we have a connecting flight from Heathrow Airport, do we need a Transit Visa to continue with our journey.

Do you have a visa to enter the US? See https://www.gov.uk/transit-visa/direct-airside-transit-visa. There is a step by step quiz that answers your question.

Go to the UK government’s link that I posted. You have to answer questions about the timing of your connecting flight etc., to find the correct answer. There are two types of transit visas (direct and visitor in transit). There is an exemption from the transit visa requirement if you have a US visa but you need to answer the questions at the link and see the requirements for the exemption.
