Hi, I am planing to visit during the end of this month. I know that during that time is Golden Week in Japan. So I am afraid it would be too crowded. So I want to find some hidden sightseeing to visit to avoid crowded locations.
Do you have any suggestions? Thank you so much.
The best thing to do would be to avoid Japan during Golden Week. It is one of the worst times of year to visit. The crowds are absolutely awful (worse than normal) and everything is booked up and more expensive. Airports, train stations, and highways will be choked with people. If you haven't already made your plans, I STRONGLY urge you to reconsider and go AFTER Golden Week. The weather will be good and there won't be any crowds, so you will be able to travel where you want without the added congestion and higher prices of Golden Week.
I traveled in Japan only once during Golden Week when I lived there (to Kyushu, which turned out pretty well, although getting there took a lot of time and we stayed with someone so accommodation wasn't an issue). Every other year I stayed home (Osaka and Tokyo) and it was the best decision. There were a lot of things to do and see just around my own areas, and the parks and restaurants were not very crowded.
If your plans are firmly set and can't be changed, it would be helpful to know where you are going to be so suggestions can be made.
Hello, thank you for your reply. This is the first time I come to Japan so that is may be not good decision for traveling time.
I am planing to visit around Kansai area (Osaka, Kyoto and Wakayama) for 1 week.
Thank you and hope to see your reply :)
