Hi,
I wanted to go to Dia de Los Muertos in Mexico, but don't know where to go.
I don't want to go some place touristy; I want something authentic and cultural.
Any suggestions.
I will be going by myself from Los Angeles if that helps any.
Thanks.

It's been a few years, and I assume the place hasn't become overly touristed, but I heartily recommend Oaxaca. What a great city anyway, but Dia de Los Muertos was amazing.
oh, and something else, if you go to Oaxaca in the days prior to Nov. 1 - visit central de Abastos prior to the celebration. It's a massive market, very authentic, very Mexican. Give yourself a good half-day to visit. The stuff they sell there in preparation for the celebration is really worth seeing.
George, i am sorry i can't help you with info, but please write a trip report if you go. I am obsessed with going to Mexico City for Nov 1 but working in a school i will have to wait till I retire. If you go, have a safe trip.
