Departing from Tokyo Haneda

Good morning all,

We are scheduled to depart from Tokyo Haneda on Monday at 8:15 pm. I have searched and cannot find information on the whole three hours before departure thing. Nothing current anyways. Can anyone help please?

Domo arigato,

Donna

Oh, and can one access the other terminals, like to go for a walk, or does one need to stay in the international terminal?

International departures from Haneda go out of Terminal 3, which is the newest of the terminals and is geared for international travelers with the usual array of restaurants, duty free shops and airline lounges.
You can go to one of the other terminals via the airport shuttle but then you'd have to go back thru security - probably not worth the hassle since T3 is the nicest one with more to see and do to pass the time.
I think most of the international carriers still recommend arriving at the airport 3 hours prior to takeoff time.

Check what your airline recommends for time of arrival at the airport. 3 hours is not always the recommended time in Japan. I have seen 60 minutes (I personally wouldn't be comfortable with that!) and 2 hours.

I flew ANA from Narita (not Haneda) back to the US a month ago. I was there 2 hours in advance - airport was virtually empty. I spent the time in the ANA Lounge, only a handful of us when I arrived, it was full by an hour before my departure time.

Thank you all. We opted for two hours, which was plenty. We spent time in the JAL lounge, as they partner with Hawaiian Airlines. Sigh, now if our bodies could only figure out what time zone they are in!
