Hi everyone! I am from Canada and heading to Atlanta for a long weekend. I've got the main things mapped out for the city itself, but was thinking about a road trip outside the city. I've seen Athens and Madison as options, but I'm looking for some hidden gems. Does anybody have any recommendations on where to go and what to see? TIA
South of Atlanta there is the city of Newnan. Many, many old style homes; if fact I think their motto is "The City of Homes". North of Atlanta are several mountain towns worth a trip. Dahalonega, Blue Ridge, and Helen just to mention a few. Do a quick google search and see if any appeal to your.
By far the best area to visit would be NE of Atlanta to Dahlogena, Helen in the hills of North Georgia.
What do you like to do? Athens is a great music town. If you enjoy cycling you could rent a bike and ride some of the Silver Comet Trail.
I'd probably recommend Callaway Gardens.
