Dallas Fort Worth Airport - meeting others after flight

I am flying into Dallas Fort Worth airport on American Airlines. My Daughter and Grandson are flying in on Jet-Blue.

I arrive at Terminal 1 and they arrive at Terminal 5. I arrive about 30 minutes prior to them. Suggest the best place to meet?

Should I try to make my way to the baggage claim at Terminal 5 or is there another good place to meet them?

Are you checking your bags or carrying on?

If you are carrying on you can take Skylink from Terminal 1 to Terminal 5 and meet them at their gate. Lots of signs, easy to use, free and stays inside of TSA security.

If you are checking your bags, you will need to exit TSA security for your baggage claim. From there go outside of the terminal for a free shuttle bus (I have never used it, DFW generally has good signs and directions) to take you to Terminal 5 and you can meet up at their baggage claim. You may want to stop at an Info desk to clairfy which bus and where it is stops at your terminal. There are usually multiple busses going multiple places and using different stops at each terminal.

I fly out of DFW all the time (it’s my hub) and have never heard or seen any terminals called 1 or 5. They are letters A, B, C, D, and E. All signage will be by letter.

The Sky Link goes between all terminals airside. So you could easily take it to their terminal and arrival gate and meet them there. However if you need to exit airside for your baggage claim first, there are shuttle busses outside that will take you to their arrival terminal. There are plenty of signs so you can see what gate they arrive into, if you don’t already know that information.

is there another good place to meet them?

Assuming DFW is your destination, why not the rental car facility?

Sorry, I fly into Terminal A and my Daughter flys into Terminal F.
My Daughter will rent a car.

Your meeting choices are not difficult but are fairly limited. Either you meet at one party’s gate inside security if one of you is only traveling with carryon; or at one party’s baggage claim area outside security (by taking the shuttles); or you both take shuttles and meet at the rental car office - which is not in the main terminals (they are near the south entrance). You could also just wait at Terminal A, give your daughter your gate #, and let her get the car and come pick you up since there are seats by the baggage carousel (I have never been inside the rental car offices so I don’t know about seating there, although I assume there would be some). There is signage for all shuttles outside each terminal.

I have been to this airport many years ago, but don't remember that I had to transfer between terminals.

Not sure about going from one terminal to another and still be within security.

It appears that the Rental Car Center is located separately from all the terminals, so that would be the likely best place to meet my Daughter.

Sky Link makes a circuit of all the terminals airside. So there are only passengers traveling on it. Good signage and go up the signed escalator to find it.

However if you meet at the rental car office, you will not need Sky Link. It does not go to the rental car location. Only the shuttle busses, which are landside, go there.
