Are there any good places to eat in or near the airport that we can meet non-ticketed friends for dinner on our layover? We'll have 4-5 hrs between flights to London.
Are your friends residents of the Dallas area? Can they pick you up from the airport and drive somewhere, and then drop you back at the airport? Was that the plan? Yes, there are many restaurants of all kinds not too far from the airport but you do need a car to get to them.

There are two airports in Dallas - I assume you mean Dallas Fort Worth (DWF) Airport, right?
Yes, Dallas-Ft Worth and yes, they are residents. We have about a 3 1/2 hr layover
Have you asked them for recommendations? I bet they would have more insight than someone who doesn't live in the area. I'm more familiar with restaurants closer to downtown/Uptown which are much closer to the smaller Love Field Airport. DWF is closest to an area called Grapevine. I would Google it and you should be able to find plenty of choices. If all else fails, Pappadeux is a decent choice and it's right by the airport.

They are brand new to the area
I think you mean Love Field. Hobby is in Houston, and is not reachable with the layover time given.
Any number of good Barbeque places nearby which of course are casual and your time is your own.
A good way for your friends to get their feet under the table both literally and metaphorically.

So which is it?
Both :) one is the full time I was figuring before we had our tickets confirmed, the other is the time I thought we'd actually have counting in checking in for next flight.
But now that we have it confrimed, I see it is 5 hrs and 41 minutes between flights :)
Sorry to confuse you :P
travelnewbie16 and halfdozmom are the same people?
Oh goodness, yes. Old account, and apparently the computer is somehow logging me in at random. I've noticed this had happened a few time now. Same thing is happening in my person email account. Maybe you techies have an answer?
I doubt the computer is doing it at random...my guess is you may have different logins autofill when using different browsers? If you're using the same browser to access the site, then I'm not sure what's going on.
I think "Historic Downtown Grapevine" is your best bet. It's too close to DFW for high-rise buildings and as a result, it seems a bit frozen in time - if not truly "historic". I have relatives in nearby Coppell. I don't remember the name of the place we ate, but it was fine. Check it out.
