"Creativity" and Hunkering-down in Home

What unusual ... Errr.... Creative things do you find yourself doing while isolating? Practicing for life in a monastery?
Example: I found myself placing auto. reflective tape on our dark-colored cell phones to spot them easier, particularly if they fall under the car seat. Then, testing the tape by putting the phones in a dark spot and shining a flashlight on them.

Sounds like you are ready to start knitting hurricane shutters from fishing line. Hurricane season is just 6 weeks away!

Good time to go through that stack of old unlabeled CDs and find out whats on them, to get rid of them. Also, to go through computer files for travel photos and finally edit and sort them out. Shredding that backlog of papers, old tax returns, etc. Maintenance on all the power tools in the garage. Starting a garage sale pile. Hmmm, maybe these aren't unusual or creative - just stuff I put off.

Only creative thing I have been doing is counted cross stitch. I have a to do list but have not been in the mood. Our garage needs to be cleaned out, closets cleaned. My extra bedrooms which are my grown boys rooms who are moved out and on their own needs to be unearthed with stuff. I did get 6 windows cleaned inside and out. Still have lots more to do. Aarrgg makes my head spin. Since I have this free time I should do something useful but don’t wanna!

Planted a garden that if it all grows will produce far more vegetables than I need - and with the cost of a tiller, seeds, and plants, I probably won’t save any money, either. :)

Yesterday I stopped procrastinating and xeroxed the stuff for my tax dude. Today I took the envelope to the Post office and sent it off by registered mail. Then I put the stuff from the 2009 box into the recycling, took my sharpie and changed the second 0 into a 1 and celebrated by finally using that envelope of gingerbread mix i bought in December. Btw, the local store is no longer selling the restaurant supply toilet paper, and the calamine lotion is still on the shelf, so Sun, that particular crisis has passed.

Nothing creative. Getting family archives down to size, doing some genealogical research, daily bike ride. Listening to music, watching videos (evenings only, nothing obsessive), reading books, doing puzzles, phoning and Zooming with friends. At first I thought I'd be bored to tears, but now I'm used to it. Nothing as creative as taping cell phones and testing their visibility.

Come to think of it, just add praying and that could be life in a monastery! ;-)

I need to share the project my cats have had additional time to focus on now that I am home so much, they have taught me to let both bathroom faucets drip for a bit for their pleasure. They do allow me to run one full bore for 20 seconds first, they are benevolent dictators.

Nothing very creative. As soon as I finish knitting and edging an afghan, I must knit baby booties for the ice cream parlor chairs so their metal feet don't scratch the floor. Besides my normal horse chores--feed, shovel, feed, muck--and occasional riding, I spent four days pulling dried weed grass out of the arena. That reminded me why gravel and a few cactus are very good yard landscaping.

I’ve been doing far too much baking - even created some videos for FB of How To’s making homemade pizza, French croissants, Kouign-Amann and Caramel Cinnamon rolls. My friends enjoyed it, and my husband happily eats what I don’t send over to our daughter’s home. Also been knitting several baby blankets to give to people in the community.

I have lots of photos from our 2019 France trip that need to be designed into the on-line printed travel book I make each year. I’m having a hard time getting motivated because it’s a reminder that the September trip to Italy probably won’t happen this year. : (

Bike riding has been a great activity to get out of the house each day, and I’ve been spending a lot of time on-line comparing kayaks to buy as soon as stores are open again.

Staying well connected with church friends, relatives and other friends through Zoom and waving to neighbors from our 6ft protection zones.

Umm.., what did I miss about calamine lotion?

I figure the next item to subject the subject of binge shopping is shampoo, as folks realize how much more they are using to wash their ever longer hair

Joe, Sun had speculated that my town using the TP from the restaurant supply truck would lead to skin irritation. 😏

Thanks for the posts.
Cats are indeed, benevolent dictators. They get away with it because of their good looks and for being soft, warm, fuzzy and their purring. Real self-serving charmers.
Horsewoofie - I think the booties for the parlour chairs qualifies as creative. Weeds are just an ongoing nuisance. Lots of work beating them back, quick to return - not much satisfaction.
Jean - I wish I was your neighbor! All your cooking sounds delicious! The videos are a great idea. Maybe one day you will end up on the food network channel.

I learned Amazon sells some unique items. I did a search for reflective tape. A neon yellow, trimmed with silver tape - Scottish kilt appeared.
