Costa Rica packages

Does anyone have suggestions for a Costa Rica package vacation. Maybe an all inclusive resort? Family oriented. Two adults and one child. Going in March. Thanks.

It depends what you want to see. Do you mean stay in one place at an all-inclusive resort? We moved around during out two weeks there and I am glad we did - there's a lot of varied area to see. There's lots of good companies. We used Adventure Life and we had a private tour for our group of 8. We stayed in Tortuguero, Arenal, and Manuel Antonio. There's also another good company called Latin America for Less that my mom has used and liked. Both of these companies will design a vacation to your liking.

Caravan tours for one and I think OAT or Grand Circle does tours of Costa Rica. I would not go to CR to just sit in an all inclusive! I have been to CR four times! It is always better to have a guide to point out the wildlife. The birds are amazingly colorful!

No. I don't want to stay in one place. What would you suggest for seven days.

Look at the companies I suggested. OAT usually has a younger group than Grand Circle. Both are sister companies. Caravan probably has more younger people on their tours. I did Caravan many years ago (1984) when they did Italy and the ages ranged from 30 to 80. I did OAT to Costa Rica and the age range was 35-80. It was a great group!
Various parks like Manuel Antonio, Tortuguero, Corcovado are nice but far from each other., A visit to the volcanos and a hot ispring for some relaxation, zipline at Selvatura, The cloud forest?

So much to see but you need to research to see what might interest you.
Roads are not good and it takes time to get from A to Z.

I am going back in February and will be spending time in on place as I have seen much of the country. I just want to relax and do a few day trips.

You might book day trips out of San Jose if you only have seven days. I didn't look at the number of days the tour groups do. I do know that there are many day tours out of San Jose. I would do a google search for "day trips" out of San Jose. I am sure you would find many to choose from.

Looks like Latin America for Less no longer goes there but Adventure Life does. Thanks.

Hmmm... I see that about Latin America for Less now. I imagine that if you call them they still might be able to set up a trip but you'd be fine with Adventure Life. I liked that trip very much. They offer jam-packed itineraries and we had a few kids with us and so they had a blast. I was very hesitant about our trip to Costa Rica and so I was happy to turn it over to a company. Once we were there, though, I discovered that Costa Rica has an excellent tourist infrastructure and it would be easy to travel around alone there and definitely less expensive. For example, once you fly into San Jose, if you wanted to go to Tortuguero (highly recommended), the hotels that operate in Tortuguero will pick you up at your San Jose hotel and then bring you back a few days later. It's one package price with meals and activities once you're there.

I would use Adventure Life again, but I'd be paying more for the convenience. If I returned to Costa Rica, I'd do it on my own.

When I went back the second time and did it on my own, I didn't see as much wildlife as I did on the tour. The guide spotted more birds, sloths, etc. than I could!

JE, I friend of mine and her two daughters just finished planning a trip to Costa Rica for April, 2017. We used a company called, Anywhere. You can find them at Anywhere.com. They were so easy to work with. We gave them the ages of the children, said we wanted a mixture of activities, beach time, hiking, volcano etc. and that we wanted to move between 2-3 different locations. They got back to us with an awesome itinerary that included accommodations and transportation between the various locations as well as transfers to and from the airport. One of the suggested activities didn't suite us well and they happily came up with other suggestions and made the change for us. They charge a flat fee for all of this service and, really, the price was very reasonable. The company has good reviews on Trip Advisor. Give them a try, or at least check out their website.

We did a Caravan tour in 2008 - my parents, me, and my daughter, who was 24 at the time. She was the youngest on the trip by at least a couple of decades (in fact, I think I was next youngest, and I'm 25 years older than she is). We saw the things that you typically hear of on Costa Rica trips - volcanos, a couple of nights in the rainforest, lots of wildlife, a coffee plantation, a couple of days at an all-inclusive on the Pacific coast, a national park, cloud forest, etc. We all loved it, and thought Caravan's price was very affordable. The guide was great, too.
