If you don't rent a car, how best to get around?

We used Morpho Vans, first to get from the San Jose airport to Arenal. Then, another time to get from Arenal to Manuel Antonio. And, finally to travel from Manuel Antonio back to San Jose.
They were wonderful. They were always punctual (or even a little early), and they stopped to show us some things: a baby sloth in a bush, a tree full of macaws, and all the crocodiles under a bridge.

Thanks for that info. As we started planning our trip we discovered that most of the tours and hotels use vans and offer pick up at the hotel. Uber also exists in Costa Rica and are relatively inexpensive. In fact, there are company vans that will take you from one hotel to another.
