We are a family of 4 includes 2 adult daughters We are planning on traveling for 10 to 14 day to Costa Rica in Jun 2024. Thinking of going to La Fortuna for 4 days, then driving and staying somewhere on the way to Manual Antonio where we will stay for 4 days.
Any recommendation for lodging? Would love to have a place in La Fortuna with hot springs but trying to budget less than $200.00 max per night. We love to hike and be outdoors and do not need much night life.
Would love to hear where people have stayed recently in La Fortuna, Manual Antonio and maybe a suggestion to stay in between. We will probably rent a car, .Thank you
Hi Catherine. For Fortuna there are several hotels with hot springs. The best would be Tabacon Resort but it may be a bit over $200. We stayed at Paradise Hot Springs which is a bit less but very nice with several pools. Next door to Paradise is Baldi Hot Springs with many pools.
For Manuel Antonio our favorite is Hotel Si Como No. You might also consider Costa Verde Lodge.
As to an in between stop you should consider Monteverde cloud forest area. The town near the Monteverde Reserve is Santa Elena.

Catherine,
You may have already had a look at this, but if not.....
The "Travel & Transportation" section has information on driving there.
It would also be prudent to avoid swimming in local rivers, etc. A soccer player just had a fatal encounter with a crocodile there.
Check out Don Juan Educational Farm (Finca Educativa)--beautiful sustainable farm and meals with tours right at the edge of La Fortuna. We went there five times with the school groups I was helping lead form the school where I taught. At first it was just the farm, then they added cabins. Wonderful staff, food, and setting.
