We are flying into Perth on the 4th October Picking up campervan and heading north up the Coral Coast probably only as far as the Carnarvon area.
I have researched pretty thoroughly but would appreciate any tips. Particularly any lesser known points of interest.
We have previous trips to Western Australia but not north of Perth.
Cheers.
We visited Perth, staying 3 days prior to a cruise that went "over the top of Australia and Bali."
We loved Perth, also going up river to the wine vineyards area, which was nice.
Didn't to the Coral Coast, in fact never heard of it. We did this over a dozen years ago.
One thing, it was VERY Hot in Perth, in excess of 100 degrees F.
The Dolphin Encounter at Monkey Mia Conservation Park is worth a stop. There are a couple of other interesting National Parks up there - one of which is Dirk Hartog Island if you want to see the site of the first European "discovery". Some of the roads require 4WD, though there are air tours as well that will give you a good overview of the area.
As I recall there's also a small bay where you can see living fossils called stromatolites ... somewhere in Shark Bay, though I don't know the exact location I'm afraid.
Thanks Robert I have pencilled those into the itinerary.
