We are looking at taking a comprehensive tour of India- north and south. Any referrals for tour companies. Looking for a tour that is around a month long.
Three companies you might want to check out would be Gate One, Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT), and Odysseys Unlimited. Most tours with these companies are for EITHER northern OR southern India, so you would probably need to sign up for back-to-back tours.
We have taken Gate 1 and loved it (wasn't for India).
We did a cruise that stopped in four ports on the SW part of India and enjoyed our visit. One thing, the highways are crowded and the drivers act like they want to commit suicide by car. Be sure to book a tour in a large bus or train.
There are some great rail tours of northern India where you sleep on the train, but they are expensive.
By the way, we did India in early April and the temps were in the high 90s. Also, don't go during the rainy season.
You may want to check Roads Scholar. They have a three week tour of north and south India. I signed up for the tour leaving Oct 12, 2023. I’ve never travelled with them before but I have seen positive reviews.
Cindy, that's interesting. I'm also interesting in an India tour in the future and OAT, which I'm currently using to go to Egypt, only offers a tour in the north.
Looks like Gate1 offers a 16 day tour of northern India and a 16 day tour of southern India that you could tack on, as mentioned above. Both are small group tours, too, which would be good. https://www.gate1travel.com/asia-pacific/india
And Beckie, here is a link to the Road Scholar tour that Cindy mentioned: https://www.roadscholar.org/find-an-adventure/18716/The-Best-of-India-Treasures-of-the-North-and-South
I believe they have already suggested some tour companies above. Before booking your chosen company, it's essential you thoroughly review the itinerary, inclusions, and customer reviews to ensure it aligns with your preferences and interests.
