I'm wondering if anyone can tell me about personal safety in Columbia, especially Bogata and the environs. I have a son travelling there in January, and I'm a very anxious dad. Just wondering if any readers in the forum might be able to offer insights, advice, etc. Thanks so much. Jack
We’ll, I haven’t been in years, but my sister has family there and goes often. One tip, don’t wear any jewelry. My sister was stopped on the street by a policeman and robbed of hers. She didn’t have her passport on her, just a driver’s license. Was he a real policeman, who knows. Just be aware if walking around alone. Are things different now, I doubt it.
Rick has a Monday Night Travel special on the website cause his son travels there often (did I read he lives there?)
Thank you so much for the reply. Very helpful. Much appreciated.
Read the USA State Department travel advisory (they have the best intelligence)
