Colorado with kids

We are traveling to Colorado with our three small children- ages 7, 5, and 1. We have an appointment in Centennial for my 7-year old and would like to make a trip of it. We will be driving from Ogden, Utah and so will be driving south of I-25 to get there. Are there places we should stop along the way to break up the trip? If we were to spend 4 days total, what would be your suggestions?

I'm a little confused by the "south of I-25". Do you mean you will take I-80 to I-25? That's not the most interesting route. Now if you were to take I-40 to I-70 to I-25 there are a ton of things to recommend. You would go through Glenwood springs and swim at the hot springs. You could stop in Vail or Breckenridge and partake in summer activities like the summer luge, ropes course, scenic gondola rides etc. We drive between northern california and colorado at least once a year. Last month we stopped in Park City for a couple of days and decided to take the I-40 route. I was SO glad! It was a much more interesting route than I-80.

The Denver zoo is one of the best in the country IMHO. The museum of nature and science right next to the zoo in city park is very good also.

I agree that I-80 to I-25 is the most boring (but fastest) option. You could take I-40 and stop at Dinosaur National Monument (a bit off the route), then drive through the mountains to I-70 and see Vail which has a gondola and is right on the highway.
Stopping along the way adds to the total driving time.

Options in Denver include the zoo and museum, Elitch Amusement Park or a swim in Confluence Park.

Thank you! Yes, I am sorry, originally I meant I-80 to I-25. It seems as if I-70 will be the way to go! Thank you. What great suggestions!
