My family will be in New Orleans over Christmas this year and I saw some information on the annual Christmas Eve Bonfires on the Levee there. We are thinking of going but I am wondering if anyone has been and could tell me the best area to drive to and if there is food and drink available and restroom facilities. We will have a car and I have read that it is quite crowded. There is a bus tour to the area but with 4 of us it seems pretty expensive to do it that way although it would be quite convenient. I believe the cost is about 59 dollars per person. In an ideal world we would drive to the area in late afternoon and enjoy a meal and some drinks and then head to the lighting. Any suggestions or insight would be helpful.
