Charging devices in Egypt?

Besides a plug adapter, any chance I might also need a power converter in Egypt? I'm pretty sure my Surface Pro tablet and Samsung Galaxy phones are dual voltage, but I'm not sure about other things such as headphones, ear buds, etc. Not looking to bring hair dryer, as I've been told the hotel and cruise ship will have one.

Thanks!

It's not the device (phone, headphones, etc) that needs to be dual voltage, but the charger, the brick you plug into the wall that does. Almost all are. So you should just need the plug adapter.

How about though if devices were plugged directly into the adapter via a USB port?

I'm not sure I follow.

If your charger has a North American style plug, with flat prongs, you need something like this: https://a.co/d/00V5qfk

If you have anything like this, you just need the correct USB cord: https://a.co/d/4LBXNbP

As I usually have multiple devices to plug into a single outlet, I usually bring an international adapter such as:

https://www.amazon.com/EPICKA-Universal-Travel-Adapter-Power/dp/B078S3M2NX/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2RIWR135L1EQS&keywords=multi+plug+international+travel+adapter&qid=1682438482&sprefix=multi+plug+international+travel+adapter%2Caps%2C258&sr=8-5

or

Normally, I would then connect some of the devices directly by USB cable. Such international adapters do NOT convert voltage. So any device connected by USB needs to already be dual-voltage.

You’ll be able to do exactly the same in Egypt.

LOL yes, I realize I can still plug dual-voltage devices into the travel adapter in Egypt without any problems. My original question though dealt with other devices that are NOT dual-voltage!

All the other devices you mention are powered/charged by USB. You really don't have to worry about the voltage at all. The output is managed by the USB port—that's what they do.

Then I guess I really am confused. The travel adapters I have specifically state that they do NOT convert voltage; if voltage conversion is needed, a converter needs to be plugged into the adapter. By that info then, I would assume that if ANY non-dual voltage device is plugged directly into the adapter without a converter, it would receive the full, non-coverted voltage.

That caution refers to the electrical socket adapter part of those adapters/chargers—the part that accepts a domestic wall plug.

The USB sockets are chargers, and they convert the 110v/220v down to 5v USB. That's what all USB chargers do—including your ones at home.
