Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia

We will be doing a 5 day Cabot Trail cycling trip in August. We will have an additional 3 - 4 days vacation. The cycling trip ends in Mabou. We are considering 2 options: #1 - go back to Cape Breton Highlands Park to hike, or #2 - spend the additional vacation days visiting places like Peggy's Cove, Lunenberg, Burntcoat Head Park and Halifax. Going back to the park will add many hours to our drive, and we will have already cycled thru the park. Our question is are the views from hiking vs cycling significantly different and worth all the extra driving to go back to the park - or does the cycling trip give us the wonderful views and experience of the park and would visiting places like the quaint towns, and places like Burntcoat Head Park and Halifax be the recommended option for our extra days. We'd welcome input, and any other suggestions as well. Thank you!

I’ve never cycled in the area, but you cannot cycle on the Skyline Trail which is the most popular trail in the area and has terrific views.

You will have a significant drive coming to Halifax and Peggy’s Cove from Mabou as well.

Burntcoat is beautiful but dependent on tide times so if you go, make sure you check those first.

Nova Scotia is a beautiful place, speaking as someone who lives in the province. So you can’t go wrong.
