Boutique hotels in Mexico City

Looking for a quiet but nice hotel in Mexico City where we can get to the museums easily. Would also like it to be close to good small restaurants and shopping.

Any particular museums, as there are some in Chapultepec park, the zocalo, and Coyoacan and nine are near each other? And are you ok with some walking? It’s been over 10 years since I’ve been there but the Red Tree House still gets high reviews. The area is residential with a park in the middle and restaurants nearby. Not really close to anything but easy enough to get to places, depending on your mode of transport. It’s a long but pleasant walk to The Rufuno Tamayo museum in the park, and not too far to the metro or metro bus lines to get other places. They could probably also call cabs or arrange a driver for you if that’s you’re preference.

Anything along Paseo de la Reforma will be quite nice. There are several embassies nearby so it's one of the upscale areas of the city. From there you can walk down to Chapultepec Park and the terrific Anthropological Museum - one of the world's finest. There are lots of shops and restaurants to explore - it's a very pleasant boulevard for strolling.
We stayed over near the Zocalo and there are several very nice places there too. Suggest looking at booking.com and using their filters to narrow down your options.
Can't beat the local metro for getting around town if you want to save your legs a bit. Your hotel can book you a taxi if you prefer door to door service.

Red Tree House in Condesa. Real boutique, not "corporate, lux, faux boutique". Location, service, rooms—all great.

Hope this helps. Back in September we spent a few nights at the Hotel Ritz in the historic area followed by a few at the Laila Hotel in the modern area. We were pleased with both.
