Best 1 day trip from Nairobi at end of group tour

Hi everyone,

I'm doing a G Adventures tour across Kenya and Uganda (my first time doing Safari!). The tour starts on the 6th of December in Kenya. For the first 5 days, we will be in Kenya in the Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru.

I have 1 free full day at the end of the tour the day before my flight. I was looking at a day trip somewhere from Nairobi. There seem to be lots of tours to Hell's Gate National Park, Amboseli Park or Olpajeta Conservancy. Has anyone been to them before or can recommend anything? I don't really want to spend the day in the city :)

Is it your only day in Nairobi? There's actually quite a lot to do, have you looked into the giraffe center or the elephant orphanage? I don't think Amboseli would be a day trip IMO.

Be mindful of the travel times, especially if you’re heading to Amboseli (About 4 hours drive one way) or Ol Pejeta, (About 3 hours drive one way) as traffic in and out of Nairobi can be unpredictable. Given your limited time, Hell's Gate National Park (About 1 hour drive one way) might be the most feasible option due to its proximity and the variety of activities it offers.
