I will be in Bariloche for four days this December and am looking for sightseeing suggestions. I have already booked a day trip to.San Martin/seven Lakes. Does anyone else have suggestions or must see locations in the area? Thank you very much!
elaine,
That's somewhat of an "unusual" tourist destination, and probably one that not many have been to. I imagine you've already looked at this, so that's the only suggestion that comes to mind at the moment - https://barilocheturismo.gob.ar/en/about-bariloche .
Bariloche has somewhat of an "interesting" history, and you'll probably find that German is also spoken there.
I went about 10 years ago.
The 7 lakes will be a long day trip, but at least the road is now entirely paved so it will be more comfortable.
I greatly enjoyed a cruise on the lake from Puerto Pañuelo to Puerto Blest and walking over to the next lake (Lago Fría), of a beautiful green color. Details are hazy by now, but this is basically the first half of the "Cruce de Lagos" crossing to Chile.
For a half-day, there are bus trips around the 'circuito Chico' and it is quite pretty, with the possibility to take the chairlift up Cerro Campanario for great views.
I also went to Cerro Catedral ski resort, but in summer there was no point.
Thank you to everyone for this great information!
We loved Bariloche , our starting point for the Lakes Crossing to Puerto Monte, Chile. In Bariloche we rented a car and explored the Seven Lakes. We enjoyed staying in Bariloche with its German influences.
Thank you for the information.
