Just curious with all the fun things going on, if Barbados is a cool vacation spot in a few months. Anyone been there recently? Is it best to do an all-inclusive, or wing it & just grab a hotel & a rental car?
Thanks in advance!

While I haven't been to Barbados recently, I was there 2 years ago. Barbados is one of the more expensive Caribbean islands. Due to erosion, many of the beaches on the western side of the island ( which is where we stayed ) do not have a lot of sand on which to sit.
Therefore, when high tide comes in there is no place to sit which in February happened shortly before 3 pm.
We didn't need a car as there is a good system of public transportation as well as minibuses called the Reggae buses. The Reggae buses are privately owned and come much more frequently than the public buses. When we went to Harrison's Cave about 20-30 minutes away we took a taxi.
I don't know if you have been to any of the other islands in the Caribbean but we liked St. Maartens, Grand Caymans, St Thomas and Curacao much more. Many of our friends and relatives have liked Aruba but we didn't care for it.
I have not been to Barbados at all but my brother has. He said it's one of the safer islands in the area and, as mentioned, offers pretty good public transit.
