Australia: Brisbane to Airlie

Any ideas on places to stay driving from Brisbane to Airlie Beach in Feb (assuming roads are not washed out). Taking 3 days so want to take it slow. Any recommendations welcome or out of the way things to do on the way also. Thank you!

We did a campervan trip from Cairns to Brisbane 20 years ago. Took it slow. Great trip. On another trip we spent a couple of days in Noosa Heads. Really enjoyed it, too.

We love that part of Australia as most American tourists don't go there.
