Asheville, N.C. Friends Trip late October

Hi Forum Friends!

I haven't been on here for quite some time but glad to be back! And I am so looking forward to traveling again. I am helping plan a 5 night friends trip to the Asheville area. I have done quite a bit of research on my own, and it appears that the three of us will have plenty to do and see, as we love the arts (I am a musician and we have a jeweler and a video marketing/design whiz among us.) My question is where to stay - I have been to the Explore Asheville site and it's full of good information and videos, which I appreciate. I am hoping that there is someone out there who knows the area well. We are all open to staying anywhere that's safe - that includes a mountain home, a suburban home, a home within the city limits etc. We don't want to stay in a hotel downtown - it's just not for us. Yes, I have searched VRBO and Airbnb and my head is going to explode, so please assist. TIA, Liz.

Hi! We stayed in a lovely inn in Asheville, but it’s closed now. Good options here: https://selectregistry.com/destinations/southeast/blue-ridge-mountains?aid=180

We have also stated in the Biltmore Village area, but I think being in or near the downtown area is better.

No matter what, you need a car, but staying in the downtown area will give you the best access to shops, restaurants and galleries. Be sure to check out (but not many places to stay in) the River Arts District and some breweries!

If you would prefer more of a house, get something in the mountains and just realize you won’t have quick access to lodgings. It won’t be bad, but not super quick.
