If so, then congratulations on your new signing, Thomas Müller. He's already sorely missed in Munich, because he's a true Bavarian original, and I'm already a little jealous that he's playing for you now.
Okay, FC Bayern didn't want him anymore, but the fans miss him.
As a Toronto FC supporter I have very little use for the Whitecaps but I found it interesting that they signed Muller. I wish him all the best in MLS (except when he plays against Toronto!)
Greg, I'm fairly certain you won't be able to ignore 'Radio Müller'. He's very communicative and always has a joke on his lips... especially during interviews and press conferences. He earned that nickname for a reason, as his teammates probably didn't always have it easy with the constantly chattering Müller.
My husband, especially, and I have always been Müller fans. We'll try to get tickets when the Whitecaps play the NY Red Bulls and/or Philadelphia Union here in the Northeast.
While we're on the topic of Bayern, what is the general consensus on when Alphonso Davies will be back from injury? For Canadian supporters, hopefully well in advance of next summer's World Cup. Also, what do Bayern supporters think of of Luis Diaz signing? (For the record, Leverkusen and Werder Bremen are the Bundesliga sides I follow).
It is generating some excitement here even from our local (CBC, our version of BBC) radio station’s host who is NOT a sports fan. It has been talked about all week and evidently Alphonso Davies had some influence on his decision:)
@Lindy
That sounds great
@Claire
Yes, I can imagine that. I mean, it's not just some 'older player,' it's a great guy. And I could also imagine that he was influenced.
I don't know if it was mentioned, but he also breeds sport horses and lives, sorry, lived, between Munich and the Alps. Maybe he'll find everything he'll definitely miss in Vancouver rather than in Cincinnati or LA.
Greg, I'm not really a soccer fan. I grew up in Munich, and FC Bayern Munich was always around. I'm a fan of some players, like Müller and Schweinsteiger, but other than that, I don't really know that much, but ....
From what I've read, the mood among the fans was naturally mixed when it comes to Diaz. But on the one hand, complaining is typically German, and on the other hand, it was the same with Kane, and now they love him.
And I read about Davies the other day that he's already back to running training. Things should be getting better day by day. Fingers crossed for Canada :-)
