Applying for a visa for China

We'll be visiting China in May and need to get visas. We're in Detroit and the consulate where we'd need to apply in person is in Chicago, so we want to use a service to apply on our behalf.
There seems to be a lot of those services out there and I'm not sure who to use. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Patricia,
When we went to China in 2005 or 2006, the tour company we used took care of getting our visas. They did need to take our passports for the few days it took to get the visas, which made me nervous, but all went well. Although we usually travel on our own, we didn't feel com fortable traveling to China without being on a tour. (We live in the greater Los Angeles area, so perhaps that made things easier and faster.)

Thanks for the response Judy!

We are going with a tour group and they suggested a company to use but the price seems very high compared to the others that are out there. Perhaps they get a commission 🤷

When I got mine, I used a company that I found through a general web search. I think I checked reviews, too. Unfortunately, I don't recall the name, but there are a lot of companies that do this and if you engage in a little sleuthing and are sure that they have a way to contact them by phone if you have questions, you should be fine.
