Any word from Negril, Jamaica?

Plan to leave in 5 weeks. Noting that some commercial flights flying today to Montego Bay (Sangster) airport.

I realize there is a path of great destruction center west of the Island but not going there, so that damage is not that important. Airport, roads, and resort all west of hurricane path, on the left/less damaged side of Melissa path. For those who don’t know, damage always worse on right side of hurricane path than on the left.

Finding that little information likely means no power restored yet, obviously want power restored and roads to airport clear.

Using Southwest points + 2025 companion pass so it’s either December 2025 or never. Also, from MSP on Southwest Montego Bay is the only Caribbean/tropical destination that doesn’t require 3 flights or an overnight en route, which is why it was picked.

Good luck. We are scheduled for mid-Jan but are making alternate plans. Massive power failure so I don't expect full recovery for several months.

It's impossible to predict whether you'll have a clear path to get there in five weeks. Though you may be going to a less destructed part of the island, it doesn't mean there will be infrastructure to support your tourist stay as they will be focused on recovery efforts. I hope you can go, but I'd be working on a plan B.

Plan B in the works, a trip to Tucson to use of the last points and one last free companion trip before 2026 comes around.

Former neighbor keeps inviting us to visit her in her retirement community, pickleball and margaritas nonstop apparently. Will get the sun and palm trees, but no heat or beach, oh well. I can wear my cowboy hat again at least.
