Any comments regarding the Memphis Tour company in Egypt

Hello -

Thank you for the suggestions we have received for our upcoming July trip to Egypt and Jordan. A follow-up question...the Memphis tour company has been recommended by a friend of a business associate of mine, and I would like to know if others in the forum have used this company? If so, I would appreciate your thoughts. As I stated in a previous post, we have traveled a lot, and I would like to travel Egypt on our own (it's a place I've longed to see), but the overwhelming advice I've been hearing is that it's ok to get there on your own, but once there, it is best to travel around with a reputable guide/company. So, any thoughts on Memphis tours, would be much appreciated.

Hi Mari,
I used Memphis Tours several years ago when I did a trip to Egypt. They arranged the Nile cruise for me and my travel companions and everything was perfect. They booked our flights from Cairo to Aswan to begin the cruise (and back from Luxor to Cairo) and had a person meet us at our hotel to take us to the Cairo airport for our flight. Once we got to Aswan another vehicle picked us up and then we met our tour guide was with us for the duration of the cruise and he went with us to all the sites along the Nile.
He even arranged our hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings (a crack of dawn adventure). He was fantastic with the details and extremely knowledgeable. His name is Islam and I am hoping I run into him on my trip to Egypt next month.
Everything was arranged very well and went off without a hitch. We had a wonderful time and felt it was money well spent (and really it was not expensive at all for all that we received).
The price covered everything including a visit to Kitchener Island to see the gardens there.
We could not ask for more in terms of service and price and the experience remains one of the highlights in that trip to Egypt.

Side note: On that trip to Egypt (January 2011) we had a private tour guide booked - her name is Rasha - and she took us to the various sites in Cairo and outside of Cairo. She was wonderfully reliable and extremely knowledgeable.
I believe she is linked now to one of the hotels near the pyramids.
We flew to Egypt on our own, prebooking Rasha and the cruise with Memphis tours (We spoke with Marwa at Memphis mostly via email) so our itinerary was already planned.
Even though we did only a cruise (with many moving parts ) with them, I highly recommend Memphis Tours.
They do a great job and you will have a wonderful time (and peace of mind) with whichever of their travel service you use.
We came home so impressed with them and the fantastic experience we had in Egypt. It's a truly magnificent country to visit.
