I have seen many discussions about trip insurance on forum. Allianz often gets high marks and compliments.
I always book insurance when I fly and the company used is usually Allianz but fortunately, I have never had to use them until now.
American cancelled my flight to Tokyo and because the one they put me on did not work, I had to rebook. The one that I rebooked leaves a day early and I am now changing planes in Chicago rather thn Los Angeles.
However I rebooked by calling American rather than doing it myself online.
Today I realized that I did not know if the insurance came with me.
I called American to ask them but they did not know. They told me that I needed to call Allianz and gave me the number.
Everything in me sank. "No, another phone call, another call center , etc. How many transfers? How long will I be on hold"
It turned out to be a pleasant experience. The voice messages were understandable. There were not many buttons to punch. Very soon and easily, I was connected to a human being who actually HELPED me.
He was able to move the insurance that I had with the first flight to the new one and I did not have to pay anymore.
My cruise is fully paid for and I have paid for insurance thru NCL. I have never had to use NCL insurance but reviews are mixed.
For my next cruise, I am going to check with Allianz before booking insurance thru NCL.
I did not know where to post this discussion. My next flight is Austin to Tokyo but I know that the majority of members travel Europe most frequently.
