We are going on a Nile River cruise in late January/early February of 2026. We would like to do a couple of days in Alexandria after the cruise. Any suggestions as to local guides or places to stay. The cruise company offers a package but it is $1500 per person.

The new edition of Rough Guide Egypt comes out in August and might have good, moderately priced recommendations for Alexandria, as well as current information for the new Grand Egyptian Museum. (They now provide a free link to the ebook with the paper book.)
I am preparing for some solo travel days after an Egypt tour in November. For lodging, all I am finding on Googlemaps or TripAdvisor are very expensive hotels or really dodgy looking pensions. Hopefully the Rough Guide will have more options.
