We are considering a trip to Alaska in 2027. Can anyone recommend an Alaskan Travel/Tour Company that they have used, and were pleased with the service? I am looking for a company that can help us plan an independent trip. We do not want to be a part of a group tour, and we also do not want any part of the trip to be on a cruise. If you have taken this type of trip, I would also welcome your input on the places that you found most enjoyable, or lodging that you woul recommend to fellow travlers. Thank you in advance!

Many years ago we took the train from Fairbanks to Denali, then on to Anchorage. (Fly into one then home from the other.) It was easy to arrange and that was before Internet! It's sold as a package with different "class" options and the website has a lot of links for lodging (then just cross reference on Booking.com or Trip Advisor for reviews).
We stayed at the $$ lodge within Denali, so day hike options and activities were included. Researching for summer 2027 for my family this year I found some lodging options in and near the park already getting booked, since the road will reopen. So I would suggest doing this now.
This could fill at least a week, if not 10 days for getting there and back. It's not clear if you want to see other parts of the state?

Surprise 70th birthday trip for my husband this past May 22. We, our son, his wife, their 11 and 8 year old, our daughter. Flew out of Birmingham, stayed 3 nights in Anchorage at the Wildbirch. Uber, walking and public transport. We then rented two cars, drove to Denali National Park area, stayed in VRBO. On way up we stopped in the charming town of Talkeetna. Went into the park several times for wildlife/nature viewing, went and played w/sled dogs, hiked, enjoyed the beauty. Drove back through Anchorage down to Seward and stayed a couple of days, enjoying a wonderful whale watching tour. Returned to Anchorage and flew home. Our first time to Alaska was a cruise which we enjoyed. The last two times, though, we planned ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed. I booked the flights, hotels, restaurants, cars, etc. Can’t recommend a travel company but Alaska official tour site is good. Feel free to private message me if you want more information on our trip. Well I lived in Alaska for 24 years. Planning your own independent trip is easy, but if you want a tour company try Alaska Tour & Travel.
