My friend and I are traveling to Australia in March/April and we will need to fly between Melbourne and Hobart, Hobart and Brisbane, and Cairns and Sydney. I was looking on Skyscanner and it seems it’s a choice between Virgin Australia and Jetstar for nonstop flights. Which airline would you choose? Thanks for any advice.
Which ever suits your timetable and budget best, I travel on both and find them much the same. One thing to check is what is included in each fare, that might swing things one way or the other. Enjoy your trip.
I agree with Helen - check the extra charges for things like checked bag and seat selection fees to ensure that you're doing an apples-to-apples comparison.
If the cost winds up being remotely similar, and their timetables suit your plans, I'd opt for Virgin Australia (with 31" of leg room) versus Jetstar (which comes in at a very tight 28"), especially for the longer flights.
We have been to Australia twice and once in country we flew Virgin Australia. Great airline, also it is allied with Delta.
Thanks everyone. I spoke to my friend last night and she wanted Virgin Australia, so we got 2 of our 3 flights booked with them. We are waiting for her to get some pertinent information before we book our last flight.
