Airlines in Australia

Is there an airline in Australia that is recommended? My husband and I will be flying to Tasmania and Adelaide from Sydney and then to Melbourne. I am considering flying with Qantas or Virgin Australia airlines. Is there one that is better?

Thank you

They are both good. We flew from the USA to Australia twice using Delta and we were on Virgin Australia within the country.

Qantas
Australia’s national airline is also the largest in terms of fleet size, offering more domestic airline flights in Australia than any other carrier. Qantas uses Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane as its main hub airports, but flies to more than 50 destinations across the country - not to mention many international hotspots. Qantas helps travellers reach major cities and tourist favourites across Australia, including all capital cities and popular spots like the Whitsundays, Uluru, and Broome. Heading to a more regional destination? QantasLink is the one of the domestic airlines that operates as a regional arm of Qantas. It carries passengers to smaller airports such as Coffs Harbour, Lord Howe Island, Hervey Bay, and Exmouth. You’ll have the choice between Economy seats and Domestic Business Class while flying with Qantas in Australia.

Virgin Australia
Virgin Australia is the second-largest of the Australian domestic airlines. Its fleet has bases in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, and currently service more than 33 airports across the country. Catch Virgin Australia flights to any of the Australian capitals and other major cities including Cairns, Newcastle, Alice Springs, and Townsville. The many other destination airports include holiday hubs like Ballina Byron Bay, Hamilton Island, Sunshine Coast, and Broome, plus some more off-the-beaten-path regional spots like Kununurra and Emerald. You can opt for a budget-friendly Economy seat while flying with Virgin Australia, or travel in style by opting for a seat in Domestic Business Class.

Jetstar
This Qantas-owned carrier is a low-cost domestic airline in Australia. Jetstar is one of the most popular local airlines in Australia with those travelling on a budget, thanks to its affordable ticket prices and extensive network of routes. The low-cost airline has you covered for both domestic and international getaways. Its network includes about 20 destinations in Australia, as well as a variety of destination airports in New Zealand, Asia, and the Pacific Islands. Catch a Jetstar flight to explore major cities like Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. You can also jet off to other exciting places like Ayers Rock, Newcastle, Sunshine Coast, and Ballina Byron Bay.

Regional Express
Are you looking to venture into rural Australia on your next domestic getaway? Regional Express is a low-cost domestic airline in Australia that flies to small regional airports from its bases in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Townsville, and Cairns. The airline operates to 60 airports across the country, like Wagga Wagga, Mount Isa, Mildura, Monkey Mia and Port Augusta.
