Air New Zealand offers Lie-flat beds in COACH!

Here's a brief bit from a recent article from the magazine Conde Nast Traveller:

Air New Zealand is launching its "skynest" service, which includes six sleeping pods, that economy and premium economy fliers will be able to book in four-hour intervals on the airline's longest flights in addition to their regular seats. The lie-flat sleep berths will begin rolling out in 2024, when its eight new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner planes begin to fly.. The pods will be located between Premium Economy and Regular Economy. Prices for the pods have not yet been announced.

Wow , that's great news. Now at least the traveler can have a 4 hour sound sleep to sustain throughout the journey.Waiting for it.This is one thing I have always envied from the business class travellers (sound sleep during the flight). But hope this is organised enough and doesn't turn out to be a chaos.

Should be an interesting experiment once implemented. Cost will be a factor and I can see the cabin crew getting very tired of having to change bedding, especially on the top of the three stacked beds.

How very happy those passengers are going to be after settling in for a good sleep just to be woken up and shooed along back to their seats after their allotted 4 hours is over.
