Air India Flight 171 plane crash AMD to LGW

I was deeply pained and shocked by the crash of Air India flight 171 from Ahmedabad, India to London Gatwick Airport in Britain.

As a person of Indian origin that has flown to India many times (including from the UK), this was very personal for me. I extend my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims both inflight and on the ground. I would also like to express my solidarity with the appropriate authorities both in India and elsewhere as they continue to conduct a thorough investigation on one of the most tragic disasters in aviation history. I respectfully ask everyone to avoid jumping to conclusions until we know all the facts.

May the souls of the deceased rest in eternal peace.

The terrible accident has affected many people, including the family members of the victims, and the people who were on the ground. Amid the awful news, I was stunned but relieved to hear about the one passenger who walked away from the crash, bruised but alive. He was sitting in Seat 11A, an Exit Row window seat immediately behind the Business Class compartment. If he paid extra for a “premium” seat, it was worth it.

My condolences to anyone affected, directly or indirectly, by the horrible event.

The inestigation into the accident is ongoing. While the information regarding the fuel switches adds something, the most important finding is why they were in that positiion.

That will take some time.
