Mexico shut down its aging train system in the '90s so there were routes before.
They also have another new line between the 2 coasts- the Inter-Oceania and a plan is to branch with the Mayan line.
They have planned for 11 tourist routes to be in place by 2050...but as that was published in 2022, who knows the final number or date....just know there will be more.

I visited this area recently and the guide told how construction of the railway was causing new government funds to be available for archaeological projects along its route. He viewed it as a positive.

I was about to create my own separate post about this actually. Has anyone figured out how to book tickets for this train? The official website isn't the most user friendly and when I plug in destinations and dates, no matter what and when, it says no trains are available, even though the stations that I chose are supposedly operational now.
