A Favorite San Miguel de Allende Apartment?

I'm gathering ideas for a possible trip - no specific date for travel yet. We'd like to be in a convenient location and are looking for something moderately-priced. One bedroom and one bathroom would be large enough - an outdoor balcony or patio for dining would be nice.
Thank you!

For how many people, and how long would you plan to be there?

I'd start your search on the booking.com website just to calibrate your eye regarding neighborhoods and prices, making good use of their filters to specify properties types that you're particularly interested in, whether it be hotels, apartments, or self-catering accommodations.
If self-catering is your thing we always had good luck with VRBO - found some very nice places for extended stays back when we used to winter there, which we did a number of times back when we lived in the Pacific Northwest.
I'd suggest avoiding the area near the Parroquia - which though central can be pretty noisy in the evenings until late into the night. Better to stay a few blocks away from the center - the city is flat, easily walkable, and safe for pedestrians. The area near the Biblioteca is popular with the large expat community. There's a very nice restaurant there and it's a great place to book tours as well.

Thank you Robert for suggesting areas to stay and ones to avoid - that's helpful information!
