4 nights before my tour starting in Delhi

Hey everyone, I’ll be flying into Delhi, India on November 7th and I have a tour starting on November 11th to do the golden triangle. This grants me 4 nights to figure out what to do with myself while I wait. I’ve never been to India and I’m a solo male traveler.

I was wondering if anyone had any insight on what there is to do. I’m sure there are plenty of things to see and do just in the city, but if I wanted to temporarily leave Delhi for a few days and come back for my tour, what realistic options are there for me to get into? Would going to the Himalayan part of India for 2 nights be too much of a stretch?

I want to limit some redundancy since I’ll already be going to Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, as I’m very new to the culture and I don’t want to waste my opportunity while I have it.

It’s also worth noting that the first day of my tour (G Adventures) starting on the 11th is “arrive anytime” meaning that the tour doesn’t really actually start til the 12th of November.

I would do exactly that. Fly into Srinagar or Manali and spend a couple of nights there

I think this may be a bit far from Delhi for you and closer to Agra - so redundant in direction. But we had an amazing stay at Chambal Safari Lodge near Mela Kothi a few years back. It's a welcome, relatively rural respite to the hustle and bustle of many parts of India. It's located near the Chambal River - one of the cleanest rivers in India. We saw quite a bit of wildlife. Plus, the hospitality was wonderful at the lodge.
