12-Hour Layover in Seattle

We are going to Southeast Asia and have a 12-hour stopover arriving around midnight and leaving at 11:15 the next morning. We want to stay near the airport - I've reserved a room at the Radisson. Reviews for the Hilton aren't so great. Does anyone have experience with airport hotels near SeaTac. Since we arrive late, we will need 24-hour shuttle service or a hotel within walking distance. Thanks!

I park at the Hilton all the time. I have never stayed there. But the lobby is very nice and the desk staff is nice. I like the Hilton because I just walk across the sky bridge and I’m in the parking lot for SeaTac and then the airport.

They have a shuttle, of course, but we always walk. The skybridge closes from 1am to 5am each day, just FYI, so then you’d have to shuttle.

The Radisson is fine as well and I’ve walked over from their parking lot to SeaTac but it’s further - you have to walk across Highway 99 at the crosswalk and then up a longish sidewalk into the airport.

You said We in your question - so you’re good walking. Note that I would not walk this by myself. Highway 99 is kind of unsavory there.

Hi Valerie,
This just the info that I needed - I appreciate the detail that you've provided. Also, I will take another look at the Hilton.

I've clarified my post.
Thank you!

There is also the Crowne Plaza right across the Skybridge, just north of the Hilton and equally close. I don’t know what the reviews say, but we have stayed there for an early flight, as has our son’s family, and none of us has a complaint.

We stayed at the Crown Plaza last year at the beginning and end of a tour. We chose to walk to and from the airport rather than take the hotel shuttle….after a couple of “wrong starts (Follow signs for LINK and Sky Bridge).
I don’t know how the price compares with the other 2 hotels you mentioned, but our room was very nice at the Crown Plaza.

While I was away doing something else, I see other people added the other detail I wanted to share: the Crowne Plaza. We park there as well when it’s cheaper than the Hilton. We walk over from there via that same skybridge. It’s only about a 2 or 3 minute longer walk.

No ooops, Carol. I am sure your information is helpful, especially since it pretty much confirms what I said about the Criwne Plaza.

I just read the reviews and got a good chuckle from one of the few negative reviews—- complaining about the lack of “free coffee” when there was a Keyrig coffee machine in their room, with 2 pods each regular and decaf coffee. Apparently that wasn’t enough.

As for the warm room, they were probably there at the height of one of our recent Seattle heatwaves. Air conditioning is not a strong point of most Seattle homes, or buildings fit that matter. It is only recently that it has been deemed useful, and homes and businesses are both struggling to catch up with the change.

You all are great! Thank you!

I'm leaning towards the Crowne Plaza...a little less expensive, better cancellation policy and good reviews.

Another good choice would be the Red Lion, which has a shuttle. It doesn't have food service other than lobby coffee, but the Radisson next door has a nice restaurant. All the hotels mentioned in this thread are clustered on International Blvd just east of the main terminal and garage. Others include La Quinta and the Coast Hotel. They're all walkable to the terminal, using the skybridge or the traffic lights across International Blvd, but with luggage I'd rather use their shuttles.

Come back some time when you can stay longer and get out of the SeaTac area!

Hi Dick!

It’s great that there are so many good options near Sea Tac!

I’d love to get back to Seattle one day soon.

Thank you!

I stayed at the Hilton last fall. It was nothing special, certainly ok for an airport hotel. The restaurant was a bit limited for dinner, but you won’t be there for dinner. I can’t comment on breakfast because I left too early. It was very convenient to get to the airport.

My go to hotel at SeaTac is Hampton Inn on 28th. I’ve stayed at the Hilton. It was fine. To walk to Hilton, follow the signs to the light rail station (go through parking garage). Take the skybridge across the street, elevator to street level. The Hilton is across the side street but you will need to walk about a block to go around to the main entrance.

The only place I stay near the airport is the Airport Marriott. They have a shuttle that runs every 15 minutes. I don't stay often since I live fairly close, but if I have a flight that leaves before 6 am I'll stay over instead of driving as morning traffic starts on I5 before then.

If you do stay at the Radisson eat at 13 Coins and avoid the airport prices.
