Any recommendations for knee high compression socks for airline travel.
I use the basic Kendall T.E.D. anti-embolism stockings they used post op before I retired from the hospital. I get them in black instead of the standard hospital white.
Some here use the Sockwell brand which I have seen in the AAA travel store.
I have also looked at the Injinji toe socks with compression which are for athletes rather than for anti-embolism. I am taking toe socks with me on my next trip to see how they do as I had some toe blisters last year with my Smartwool socks. If they work out well, I may order the Injinji compression socks for a road trip this summer.
If you have known issues, you should of course speak with your health care provider.
Since you're in Seattle, go up to Edmonds and check out The Savvy Traveler (http://www.savvytraveleredmonds.com/), just a few blocks from Rick's store. They have a selection and you can check out the options and ask them for advice.
We have Sockwells. Only use for long flights. Does reduce lower leg swelling. Sockwells are not expensive and come in patterns for women and men so don't look like compression hose. Medium compression so comfortable as well. Purchased on Amazon.
I also use Sockwells for long flights and have had no nervous legs on the flight or swelling on arrival. I bought a different brand for hubby and they are so tight he can barely get them on. Thanks for the reminder to order him some Sockwells!
Thanks everyone!
You can also check out compression leg sleeves, I get mine from aboutthenurse.com and they are great quality and budget friendly. I find that I like these better since I can wear my own socks. I have small feet and find that the sock part of compression socks is usually way too big for me.
I like using CEP
I use them for running and endurance events, and they've worked just as well for long flights. I since stopped using the socks and just use the sleeves for flights. They also make socks that are of varying heights.
