I love Skechers slip-ins as casual/walking shoes, but they're not waterproof. Does anyone know of a viable alternative? Thanks!
Silicone waterproofing spray from a sporting goods store will do the job.
And keep a pair of dry socks in a zip lock bag in your day bag just in case. Has saved the day for us a couple of times.
If you look on the sketchers website or google sketchers waterproof, they do have some that are described as both slip on and waterproof. I have never tried them. I have sprayed waterr-repellant spray on my sketchers go walk slip ons but not sure how much it helped. I have also found that it you are not walking through deep puddles or caught in a downpour, they tend to dry pretty quickly. However, when I have traveled with sketchers, I have also packed something more waterproof.
I have found that wool socks stay warm even when wet! Have a great trip!
Skechers now makes waterproof step in models, mine are leather, so easier to spray as well.
I just bought my first pair of Sketchers and really liking them so far, although I have only had them two days.
Mine says that they are washable. Not waterproof but washable but if they are washable, does that not also make them somewhat waterproof.
They are definitely machine washable, I have a few pairs, but still give them a silicone spray if you’re taking them on a trip.
but if they are washable, does that not also make them somewhat waterproof.
No.
I'll put a good word in for Columbia TRS Outdry sneakers. Just returned from a 3-week trip and they are definitely waterproof, very comfortable even for all-day wear, and are slip-resistant.
but if they are washable, does that not also make them somewhat waterproof.
No, washable simply means you can put them in a washer and likely not destroy them. Waterproof means if you stand in a puddle, water will not seep in.
Really liking my Sketchers and taking them on my next trip but also taking my Chaco sandals with me. My Chacos are waterproof but they are sandals so if i am standing in a puddle ......
Update: Come to think of it, my Chaco's are weather proof so I believe. not water proof. However I have been wearing them in all kinds of weather except snow and they have been holding up fine.
