Sept: River cruise Bucharest to Budapest; then Prague & Paris

We're traveling in the second half of September, and sounds like the weather could be all over the place. I have a pair of Keen sandals and am looking at these two as well: Ecco Bluma Ballerina and Taos Encore. Tried them both on at The Walking Store and they're both great. The ECCO looks less casual in black and on the feet, so could wear for (not super dressy) evenings. Most packing lists suggest comfortable sandals, comfortable walking shoes & comfortable, but a little nicer for evenings out. We'll be doing a lot of walking.

So, a couple of questions: Do I need all three? Are the Taos too wintery looking & too warm for that time of year in those areas? Any other thoughts? Thank you!

I am not going to try and get involved in woman’s fashion. That would be hazardous. We spend time in that region (Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria) most every year in September or October. It’s my favorite time of the year to be over there. Generally the weather runs from Very Cool late at night to just mildly warm in the late afternoon. So a couple of layers works well. The weather is generally fairly dry as well.

We notice and are amused that these folks love their fashion and the first of September means fall regardless of the temperatures. It can be bordering on 75F and they will be wearing their finest stylish coats and scarfs. One of the good things about the season is the theaters are up and running after the Summer break. So if that interests you bring suitable clothing / shoes.

Thanks, James. You may not be a person who notices women's shoe details, but have you registered whether women wear shoes like the Taos leather ones (very definitely fall/winter season shoes)? Not worried about "fitting in," just don't want to bring shoes I don't need or will be too warm to wear.

If they are winter shoes, they will be warmer then necessary, but right in style as the local ladies will be wearing the fur lined boots and the like. Not because it's necessary but because "it's Fall!" and common sense has nothing at all to do with it. Do bring a nice pair for the Opera.

Okay, just noticed the links. Those will fit right in and probably not be too warm. Black is more common than brown. Can't believe I am having this conversation. ...

hahaha - since you've been the only respondent and you've been there a lot, at least know I very much appreciate it!
