Search for plain white sneakers

Just got back from three weeks in Europe and thought I'd tell you about my search for the Perfect White Sneaker. White sneakers are so great with EVERYTHING but I have plantar fasciitis in my left foot, and just all-over pain in my right foot. I'm on my feet most of the day at work, so my poor tootsies need TLC. I have average width feet and high arches. I ordered probably a dozen pairs of mostly white shoes and they all failed miserably. I tried shoes from Vionic (three different styles), Naturalizer, l'Amour des Pieds, BZees, Skechers and Dansko. I even tried the shoes with my favorite Pedag insoles--which helped--but I'd wear them for an hour or so on a carpeted surface and nothing felt good. The soles of plain white tennies are just too flat. I need a lot more cushion in my shoes and a little height in the heel, but my pride won't let me wear Hokas or Brooks in Europe.

The random winner ended up being the leather "Topspin" style from Cole Haan. They have a great athletic shoe line. I had no idea! I needed a little extra arch support (Pedag "Step" inserts are wonderful for that!) to make my Topspins feel fantastic. We usually walked about 25,000 steps a day in Europe and while my feet were tired by the end of each day, I had ZERO plantar fasciitis pain. No pain of any sort, actually. It's pretty miraculous. I wore smartwool everyday cushion no-show socks with them, and those were wonderful too. Even in the baking summer heat, my feet were fine.

I got back from Europe last week, cleaned up my Topspins with a toothbrush and Krud Kutter and they look good as new.

The Hoka Kawana met my needs in Europe last spring- they come in black or white. Not quite the sneaker look, but very good support for the arches and balls of the feet.
Where's the next trip?

As one who also has foot problems, I know what an accomplishment this was!

I looked at them. Unfortunately for me, they don’t come in wide which I need.

I have Cole Haan court shoes in black, not white, but they must be similar. I brought them on my trip ( in Italy now) because they are so lightweight and also very nice-looking, but also good for walking. At home they are my shoes for fitness class. It’s a great shoe for my “fussy” feet.

I haven't seen On Cloud mentioned, although $$$. I am over 65 and a runner with horrible bunions that only are painful in shoes that don't work (Hokkas were a fail). I also swear by Allbirds, but they don't have a pure white " trainer" look for which I have hunted for several years
On Cloud has a "tennis shoe" in either leather or synthetic. At last! They don't have that orthopedic look, and look cool with my slip skirt or tee dress

My foot doctor told me I must wear New Balance shoes pretty much for the rest of my life because of my plantar fasciitis.
They work for me.

You wrote, "my pride won't let me wear Hokas or Brooks in Europe."
That is too bad, because if those work for you back home, I sure would be wearing them.
No one in Europe cares what you wear on your feet.
No one's looking.
Take good care of your feet; that's the most important thing, not some notion of being fashionable.

Check out the white leather Tamaris Hanna on the Tamaris website. This is a great German- made brand of shoe. Good luck!

I took my Aetrex white sneakers on our month-long trip in May. I use their inserts as well for plantar fasciitis, so I switched out the insoles and they worked really well. I made the mistake of using the wrong shoes on our last trip to Italy in 2019 and it took me a year to recover from plantar fasciitis. I won’t do that again!
